Soil organic matter is a critical soil health resource. My goal/objective is to understand soil organic matter changes, both gains and losses, as related to soil management and land use decisions over time. Target audiences are landowners and land managers. These audiences will benefit from new knowledge regarding soil organic matter and associated soil health changes with different soil management and land use decision choices. My research is to gather data on soil organic matter in several short and long-term field research studies and then evaluate differences in terms of the soil management/land use decisions made. My extension activities will transmit my research outcomes to those audiences.
